Lee was born on December 3, 1946, in Washington, DC to George and Mary Knott, who predeceased him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Karen, #1 son, David and wife, Ania, and #2 son, Kevin and wife, Katie, plus his treasured grandchildren, Ellie, Lily, Owen and Filip. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Georgianne and husband, Harry Lowe, in-laws Shelley and David Hartley and Bobbie Sandvig, and numerous nieces and nephews of a close-knit family he cherished.
After two years of military duty, Lee graduated from Va Tech in 1973, where he began a lifelong bond with his Sigma Lambda fraternity brothers. He joined the Virginia Beach Fire Department in 1975, where he was honored to serve the community for 25 years, retiring in 2000 as Battalion Chief. Lee was always quick to recount many tales of the fraternity or fire department years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when his sons and their families are able to attend, but our family home is open on Saturday afternoon, January 25, to welcome anyone that would like to share any of Lee’s stories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vigilant Watch, Inc. (vigilantwatchinc.org) for support of public safety families.
