Mrs. Runberg was born on November 20, 1942 to James and Kathryn Minogue. She was a graduate of the University of Dayton with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Chemistry. She married John E. Runberg, Jr. on July 26th 1969. Mrs. Runberg dedicated her life to raising her two children while Mr. Runberg served his country in the United States Navy. After years of frequent moves, they retired in Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Runberg was a passionate lover of animals, working at animal shelters and adopting a number of dogs and cats throughout her life.
She dedicated herself to teaching and prided herself on the care of each child and proper grammar at all times. (Mom, I hope I’m doing this right!)
Soccer dominated her landscape. She spent many happy days watching her children play on the fields of Tennessee, Maryland, and Virginia. Evenings were spent rooting for the local soccer team, the Rogues. Alas, later in life, she succumbed to the dark side and started following NFL football, the New York Giants and all things Bill Parcels.
Many nights were dedicated to cards. She learned the craft with her mom. Later, she spent hours upon hours teaching her two kids to play Rummy, a tradition that was passed on to her grandchildren.
Mrs. Runberg is survived by her husband, John E. Runberg, Jr.; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Kathy Minogue; her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and John Lamb; her daughter and son-in-law, Delia and Robin Follet; her son and daughter-in-law, John Eynar III and Kristen Runberg; and three grandchildren, Sarah Cailey Follet, Lia Follet, and Sophia Runberg.
