Paul Douglas Long, 69, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 21, 2012. He was born on January 20, 1943 in Gastonia, NC to the late John W. and Dorthea Long. He is predeceased by his brothers, William Baylor Long and Barry Reginald Long.
Paul graduated from UNC and Sentara School of Health Science. He retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist, and belonged to the ARDMS Society. He also, loved canoeing, NASCAR, and was an avid cook.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Monica Kelly-Long; daughters, Sheryl Engleman and Donna M. Colvin Hamm; son, Charles E. Colvin, Jr.; and 10 grandchildren. Dwayne, Blair, Nicholas, Catherine, John, Randy, Jeanne, Dylan, Krysten, and Trey.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 3pm at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association: www.heart.org .
