Berta was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, but lived most of her life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, where she raised her seven children. She was a devout Christian whose faith carried her through good times and bad.
Berta retired from Coca-Cola after 20 years, when she decided to expand her interests beyond her children and family. In addition to being an avid lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, she loved sports in general. As an active member of St. Andrew’s UMC, she volunteered on numerous mission trips both domestically and abroad, including the Gulf Coast, Joplin MO, Tennessee floods, Russia, Jamaica, Paraguay, Africa and Peru. She became an avid runner in her late sixties, completing half marathons. She had multiple groups of card-playing friends whom she maintained deep relationships with.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Agnes Marty, her twin brother Robert Marty, sister, Claire Marty Medeiros, brother Raymond Marty, her husband Neal Presby, her son Dennis Neveu, and daughter in law Sandy Emerson Neveu.
Survivors include her children David A. Neveu (Terri), Douglas C. Neveu (Diane), Daniel T. Neveu, Donna N. Bishop (Ottis “Rusty”) Denise L. Neveu (Kerry Jones), and Dianne D. Taylor, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
