Vivian is my half sister. You can’t imagine how many times that I’ve thought about her this year, and truly felt a loss. I live in Fl and when she called me she would always say “Hi Sissy!” We never talked less than an hour covering everything about our lives, past and present. She loved shopping with my Mom. It was their favorite thing to do! Not mine. Lol…..when I lived in Va we often went to she and Whitey’s home in Suffolk, often for a cookout which Whitey loved to do. I liked him so much and I do believe he was the love of her life. He loved her so much. He would give her anything, and she adored him. Our father used to love to fish with him. Those were good times.
God bless you, Vivian, I know you are in the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I know that you’ve seen all of your family, particularly your sons. And our Dad of course, and my Mom. I love you, Sissy! Miss you.

If my half sister was here today I know that she would be praising her neighbor and dear friend Nancy. She was the “go to” person at the nursing home. She only wanted to see that Vivian was treated like she would want her Mom treated. And she selflessly did just that! Thank you Nancy. I’m in awe of your kindness.

Vivian will be fondly remembered as a friend who had a happy disposition, was easy to talk to, loved life and her precious dogs. We have fun memories of camping and Vivian's attempt to water ski, garage sales, and moving! Vivian was most generous and put her faith in Jesus, her Lord and Savior.  We have hanging in our home, a beautiful cross stitch that Vivian made and gave to us that reads:  "I am come a light unto the world that whosoever believeth in me should not abide in the darkness."  John 12:46

Rest in peace, dear friend and sister in Christ. Nancy and "little Ray" will take care of your dogs, and Janet and I will miss you and look forward to being with you again, where you'll welcome us and show us around.  I'm so happy I could be with you and our dear friend, Tina Spivey, at the end, as we prayed and told you it waa OK to go home to be with Jesus. We knew that you will go prepare a place for all of us  there.

Vivian was the first friend I made when I moved to VA Beach in March, 2003.  I visited the singles Sunday School class at FBCN where she greeted me warmly.  We prayed for our sons who were estranged from us at the time. On my way home that Sunday, my son, Lawrence, called me, after a silence of 8 months! He had been wandering  trying to find his direction in life.  H found his calling as a nurse, pursued it and has made a wonderful life for himself and his family, me included.  So thank you, Vivian, for lifting us up in prayer!  We also shared some good times on the beach and at Ladies Day Out.  See you in the heavenlies, dear friend!

I met Vivian in 2002 when my father James Overcash introduced her to me as his new bride to be. While they were only married for a little over a year before my father passed away I know that he adored her and loved her very dearly. I know in her life here on earth she touched many lives and brought love and laughter to everyone that knew her.  She will be greatly missed. Especially by her fur babies.
