Ward was born January 20, 1956 in Rochester, MN to Ward and Dorothy Phelps. He married Eleonore Ackermann on May 7, 1993. He was a loving husband and father who found so much joy in spending time with his family. Anything Harleys and Jeeps was his pastime. He spent 26 years serving his country in the Navy. Following his retirement from the military, he spent the next 13 years working for Bridgestone.
Ward was preceded in death by his parents, Ward Junior Phelps and Dorothy Mae Stanchfield, brother, Raymond Phelps, baby girl and baby boy.
Ward was survived by his wife, Eleonore Ackermann, and children; Christina Sheppard (Brien), Ward Phelps IV (Sarah), James Phelps (DeeAnna), and Alexandra Champine (Brandon). He had 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child.
