William Allen Grimstead

Virginia Beach - William Allen Grimstead, passed away on his 68th birthday Dec. 25, 2017. Allen would share with others that he was a special person because he was born on Jesus' birthday. He truly was a special person who dedicated his life to service. He served his country in the US Navy and was a firefighter at the Oceana Naval Base retiring as Captain. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca L. Grimstead; sons, Christopher Allen Grimstead and wife Allison and Timothy Lewis Grimstead and wife Rachel; daughters, Sarah Grimstead Cotten and husband Jeffrey, Hannah Rebekah Grimstead and husband Scotty, and Rachel Grimstead Floyd and husband Jeremy; step-daughter, Suzanne Dixon and husband Adam; sister, Janet G. Simons; nephew, Clyde William Simons Jr.; best friend, neighbor, and cousin, Robert Warren Dixon; and 13 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thurs. Dec. 28, 2017 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Fri. Dec. 29, 2017 at Knotts Island United Methodist Church, Knotts Island, NC.
