He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Lula Henry.
He was born in Scottsburg, Indiana, attended Scottsburg High School and was a Hoosier through and through. He resided in Virginia Beach since 1976. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and then went on to teach NJROTC at Maury High School. Not ready to stop working he then drove school buses for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Great Neck Baptist is where his church family resides.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra Henry; a daughter Lyn Henry and son Eric Henry; one grandson William Zackery Henry and a sister Sue Maurer and several cousins, nephews and grand nieces. His heart was family.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Great Neck Baptist Church on 1020 General Jackson Drive in Virginia Beach.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the Church at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park.
