
VIRGINIA BEACH- William Emmett Spell, 75, passed away on Jan. 12, 2011.
Bill Spell was born in West Green, Georgia. He retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty-three years of service as a Master Chief Petty Officer and served as a real estate broker with Charter Realty, Century 21 and Realty Executives for twenty-five years. He was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church and the John Stone Bible Class.
Survivors include three children, W. R. Spell and wife, Pamela; Jody Stearns and husband, William; and Pastor Gary Spell, all of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Erin Raffray, Michael Spell, Katie Spell, Bradley Bentz, Kyle Bentz and Grace Spell; three great grandchildren, Sophia Raffray, Caleb Raffray and Arayiah Bentz; and a sister, Iris Medlin of Daytona Beach, FL.
The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
A celebration of Mr. Spell’s life will be held on Monday, January 17, 12:00 noon at London Bridge Baptist Church by The Rev. Tommy Taylor. A reception will follow immediately at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19 at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road in Suffolk, VA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gauri Radkar, Dr. Krista Dobbie and all the staff at Virginia Beach General Hospital for their compassion and care. Many thanks as well to Jennifer Spell and Tommy and Carol Smith for their love and faithful service to our father during his illness.
