It has been a year since Ann's passing, and I just learned the sad news. My deepest sympathy the Greg and the family.  Ann and Richard were good friends of my parents. Our family would visit them in Hanford, San Luis Obispo, and then later in Visalia at the Ranch. I always taken by Ann's style and grace. She loved us girls. Ana and Richard were my little sister's God parents, and the baptism was held at the Mission San Luis Obispo as Ann was expecting Greg at the time and couldn't travel.  My parents really enjoy and appreciated Ann and Richard and the many visits and conversations over many years.  It was difficult to hear of her declining health but a little less difficult to hear of her passing knowing that she is perfect again and with all her loved ones that have passed on in glory.

My birth parents, Bernadette and Arlindo Baptista had me baptized in San Jose, CA and selected Regina Santos and Manuel Araujo to be my God parents.  I met my God mother Regina but have not found Manuel Araujo yet.  
The Craines also had me baptized after adopting me and selected Ann and Richard Silva as my God parents (pictured).    Ann’s son Greg contacted me with the news that his mom, my God mother, passed away peacefully on 11/5/2023.   
I treasure the conversations I had with Ann.  She was my go-to for so many questions.  I went to her to talk about my choice of a girlfriend that was not Catholic, I talked with her about my decision to leave the Catholic church, and Ann leaked information about my birth parents when I didn’t want to ask the Craines which was the beginning of my connecting the dots.  She also shared with me that had the Craines not adopted me (1957/58), she and Richard would have since they had not been successful in having a child as of then.  Greg was born in 1972 and she considered him their miracle blessing when we talked.  Greg sure wrecked me getting extra time with my God mother after his birth!!!  LOL  
Ann and Richard didn’t live that far from my home in Visalia, so it was convenient to pop in and say hello with my kids from time to time.  Ann just loved Bobby and Danielle and my daughter loved her tender heart.  Before moving to the east coast, Danielle wanted to visit Ann at a care facility in Visalia. Aunt Ann, as Danielle referred to her, just lit up when they made eye contact on our visit.
I am so thankful Ann and Richard were selected as my God parents.  I am sad that I don’t have them here to go to with more questions, but I hope I use their example of making time and listening to those that need another pair of ears.
