Anselma was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many. Affectionately known as “grandma Chema,” she will be remembered for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her deep love for Hallmark and Lifetime movies. She enjoyed many trips to the Tachi Entertainment center- fondly called “the Tachi palace” – and had an unmatched enthusiasm for In-N-Out Burgers, never allowing anyone to speak ill of them in her presence. She also had a passion for salsa on her food and a good cup of coffee.
She found joy in accompanying her son Robert to car shows throughout the valley and loved attending church with her son Adam at West Coast Believers Christian Center in Visalia. Anselma built lasting friendships in her church community, where her faith was a source of strength and inspiration.
Anselma was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo “Sonny” De Leon. She is survived by her sons Adam De Leon and Robert De Leon, and her daughter-in-law Letty De Leon. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: RJ, Rey, Ruben, Alysa, Aliya, JoJo, and Erica De Leon, who was like a daughter to her, whom she loved late night visits from. Anselma also had a warm place in her heart for Adams fiancé’, CC, whom she loved dearly and always looked forward to seeing. Her memory will be treasured by her younger brother, Joe Ramirez of Temple, Texas, as well as his daughters, Janelle and Jovi.
Although in later years Anselma was no longer able to attend church in person, she found great comfort in listening to her favorite Christian band, Crystal River on her CDs. Whenever they were performing nearby, she made every effort to be there. She treasured sharing the love of Jesus with her family and was steadfast in her faith.
Through many hospital and rehabilitation stays, Anselma remained hopeful and upbeat, always thinking of her family and ready in her heart to see the Lord at any time. Her legacy of love, faith, and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew her.
