11, 2020 in Visalia, California.
His hard working young parents moved to California when Don was 5 years old and proceeded
to build a life doing farm work. They settled in the Exeter area where Don attended school
while working to help his family out, during these years Don made several friends that would
last thru his lifetime.
Don married young and raised a family with his first wife, then divorced when the kids were
nearly grown... Don enjoyed several years of the single life before meeting and marrying Pat.
They met at Montgomery Ward Service Department where Don was a technician and Pat
worked dispatch…..Don later retired from Wards after 40 years of service.
Don truly enjoyed life, long camping trips with his buddies to the desert and the mountains
where they would ride trail bikes , crabbing on the coast of Oregon, traveling on cruise ships
where his favorite was Alaska. On their Hawaiian cruise one year, off the coast of Maui, Don &
Pat renewed their wedding vows on Valentine's Day. Also a road trip up into Canada and
another down thru Arizona and seeing the Grand Canyon. His fondest memories were the yearly
family camping trips with daughters and grandchildren, he loved his family and these are the
best memories to his grandchildren, he was a wonderful grandfather.
Don had a full shop to work on whatever and always enjoyed tinkering around either on motors
or woodworking. He had a large yard with lots of flowers and plants that he tended to. He also
had a koi pond to maintain and his fish were his pets as were his chickens. He loved his animals
and they all knew it, there was always a houseful of dogs, cats and birds. And when he would
watch tv in the evening, he would always have a pet or two in his lap.
He also enjoyed his vehicles, he was known for having corvairs (including a custom trike), sports
cars and a dune buggy or two but will mostly be remembered for his big Ford diesel pickup,
after saying for years he “wouldn’t have one of those noisy things” he got “Big John” and
lovingly cared for that truck for 19 years.
It needs to be mentioned that in the last 5 years, Don lovingly cared for his elderly in-laws who
came to live with them because they needed care. Don never complained while he loved and
cared for them with the utmost patience and care.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Merle & Mary Morgan, both of his beloved sons,
Tracy and Ronald, causing his greatest heartaches in life, and his grandson Jeremy.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Patricia, his brother Kenneth and 3 daughters,
Peggy Crisp (Charlie), Sara Clark (Donny) and Erin Adams (Abram) along with 16 grandchildren
and several great grandchildren.
