Pilo was a kindhearted soul, who was devoted to his family and was a good friend to many. He was a hard worker and was happy and proud to provide for his family.
He was an immigrant farm worker for many years. Pilo was in the Bracero Program in 1950's in Texas and worked in the San Joaquin Valley, Oregon and Washington, working in the fields alongside his wife, picking fruits and vegetables. Pilo also was a heavy equipment operator and worked on dairies leveling land for the owners. He retired as a Master Craftsman with Western Water Constructors in his 70's.
Pilo will be remembered for his easy-going spirit and quick wit. He loved to sing and wrote songs, especially for his beloved wife, Gloria. He loved her more than anything in this world.
He was always a happy man and was always grateful for the simple things in life. Pilo always lived within his means and was able to buy a house, help his kids and many others.
Pilo was preceded in death by his son Ricardo Herrera Sanchez, his brother Urbano Herrera and his sister Socorro Herrera.
Pilo will be dearly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Gloria Herrera Sanchez, his daughter Delia Herrera McGarva and husband John; his son David Herrera Sanchez and wife Marie; and his daughter in law Martha Herrera. His three granddaughters Karina, Erica and Krystina, two step granddaughters Christa and Mia; his great granddaughter Mia; his brother Carlos, and his sisters, Dominga, Amelia and Rosa.
