Eugene like coming over to our clubhouse at Mike C.  house, 7th&8th grade and had some good old times at the old Cotton Gin and Hobo Jungle Good memories. Eugene was a great friend.

Memories of my Brother Eugene 
•	With unstoppable tears & a heavy heart, I will not forget my brother Eugenio, Eugene, Gene, Geno: I pray he is in peace “y que se vaya con Dios!”
•	Surprising the family, when we lived at the end of Court Street-the end of Visalia, with extra Christmas gifts, which his Crowley Elementary teacher joyfully gave us;
•	Going 50 yards in front of our house as kids to watch baseball with Eugene: when we turned in soda bottles for cash, Gene and I could enjoy a hotdog, almost as tasky as Taylor Dogs;
•	Sneaking off with Eugene to swim in the St John’s River;
•	Accepting thousands of his freshly picked avocados, pecans, oranges, grapefruits, pomegranates, & walnuts; I loved the big "abrazo" afterward;
•	Savoring Gene’s best BBQ short ribs;
•	Cherishing the roses he would prepare for us to take home;
•	Admired that his nephew liked him so much he named their son after him;
•	Dancing the night away and being as happy as can be at his wedding to Jan Haskell;
•	Cruising with Gene in Visalia & Santa Cruz in his yellow tripped up 1964 Mustang;
•	Being roommates at home; the UCSC dorms; the beach Apt. & the Riverside Hotel; 
•	Watching him compete on the cross-country team ;
•	He surprised the kids with a snack, a toy or a game;
•	I loved his mustache, it was full bodied;
•	Seeing joyful eyes when he was accepted to UC Santa Cruz;
•	Watching Eugene talk warmly with his sister in law Vira, what a touching friendship;
•	Swinging our legs as preteens on a pickup tailgate as we got ready to work the fields to supplement the family income; ;
•	Enjoying a cold beer with him without a care in the world;
•	Watching him & his close friends talk & laugh about everything & nothing;
•	Listening to him read the bible at Holy Family Church in the best Spanish enunciation;
•	Enjoying a “sweet” king size blanket that he kindly gave us; 
•	Seeing smiles when he wore one of his Stanford Caps; 
•    While tragic, Eugene left life on his own terms, will & desires.

Very sorry to hear about Eugene passing away. He would come to visit the Stokes brothers and we used to all hang out back in the 70’s. My friends and I went to stay at his apartment in Santa Cruz for about a week and had a great time. Haven’t seen him in years, but have many good memories of him. Prayers and condolences to his family.

I am so sorry that your brother past away. I knew him because of his running and of Holy Family. My condolence and he and your family will be in my prayers.🙏

A  friend  that I’ve known for a short time but felt much longer, the taco Tuesdays, and menudo Sunday’s  Sharing life experiences will be sadly missed but happy memories never  be forgotten.
