

Evelyn Silveree Sisemore left on her journey to join the Lord and rejoice with Him on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012. She left this life peacefully at home in Tulare, California, with her family by her side. Evelyn was born to Thomas and CindaTowry on April 10, 1921, in Hatton, Arkansas.She moved with her family as a young child to Oklahoma. There she met and married her husband, Edward Sisemore, and had two children: Janice Sue and Jerry Edward. In 1959 the family moved to Porterville, California. In more recent years she made her home in Tulare.
Evelyn was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 49 years, Edward Sisemore; her parents; two sisters, Hester Campbell and Iva Dell Kindrid; two brothers, J.D.Towry and Owen Towry, all of Oklahoma; and her son-in-law, Roy Goucher, Sr.Evelyn is survived by a large extended family including her daughter Janice Goucher of Tulare, Californiaand her son Jerry (Pam) Sisemore of Traverse City, Michigan. She is also survived by two sisters, Nettie Jo (Bobby) Childs of Milford, Ohio and Marie Sharp of Waxahachie, Texas. Evelyn leaves five grandchildren: Keith Baumgardner of Seattle, Washington, Scott (Kelly)Baumgardner of Porterville, California, Tammy Baumgardner of Tulare, California, Levi Edward (Sara) Sisemore of Floydada, Texas, and Jennifer Shaw of Silverton, Idaho. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren: Ray (Ashley) Smith of Tulare, California, Collin Douglas of Tulare, California, Jefferson Baumgardner of Southern California, Samantha Baumgardner of Tulare, California, Brooke Baumgardner of Porterville, California, Justin Baumgardner of Porterville, California, Dayton Waggoner of Porterville, California, Dakota Waggoner of Porterville, California, and Jeremiah Edward Sisemore of Floydada, Texas; and two great-great grandchildren: Brad Smith of Tulare, California and Raelynn Baumgardner of Tulare, California.Evelyn has one great-great granddaughter on the way, Serenity Smith. Evelyn also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, countless beloved brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, and many friends.
Evelyn was a devoted Christian who lived her life according to the gospel. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, being an active member in Porterville and Tulare over the years. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. She loved to cook, bake, garden, sew, and she never missed a Bible study session. She loved to share her knowledge of the Lord with all who crossed her path. She was always there to help those in need, no matter how large or small that need might have been. In addition to feeding troubled souls, her legendary hospitality has fed countless hungry bodies. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten, as she leaves a legacy of life, love, and faith in the Lord.
Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, California, on Thursday, July 26, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Blackstone Church of Christ, 500 N. Blackstone St., Tulare, California, on Friday, July 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow Hillcrest Cemetery 1013 E. Olive Avenue in Porterville, California.
