

He was born in Tioria Maceda Orense, Spain on October 2, 1925 to Candido Gonzalez Parente and Carmen Alvarez Faijoo. He was raised and educated in Orense and was ordained a Priest in 1950, Professor of Seminario San Fernando in Orense, Spain. After serving a parish in Canedo, Spain for three years, Father Antonio came to the United States in 1960, settling in Santa Paula, California. He served at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Delano and Immaculate Heart of Mary in Hanford in 1967; Holy Family of Visalia and St. Joseph in Bakersfield in 1968; Father Antonio was incardinated into the Diocese of Fresno in January 1970; he served as Pastor at St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Tulare in 1973 and served as Pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Hanford in 1988. Father Antonio retired in July of 1997. Living his life for the Lord brought him great joy. His door and telephone were always open to those in need. Father Antonio also enjoyed gardening.
Father Antonio was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jose.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Father Angel Gonzalez of Visalia; three sisters, Sister Concepcion Gonzalez of Spain, Herminia Parente of Bakersfield and Maria Gonzalez of Spain.
Visitation will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Tulare on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 9 – 10 a.m. immediately followed by Recitation of Rosary at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Tulare District Cemetery, 900 E Kern St. in Tulare, CA
