Florence B. (Ortegon) Briones

On Saturday, December 20, 2014, Florence Briones was granted her Angel wings. She had reached the age of 87.

Born January 22, 1927, in Los Angeles, to the late Aurelio and Maria Florencia Ortegon. She had eight brothers and sisters and is preceded in death by her sisters Margaret Hill, Rose Rita Regalado and brothers Robert Ortegon and Aurelio (Jr.) Ortegon.

On December 4, 1948, she married her next door neighbor and sweethear Luis R. Briones (passed on 10/22/97). They had made their home in Hawthorne, CA until 1963 when they moved to a small Ranch in the foothills along the St. John's River in the Venice Hill area.

Florence leave behind five children; Natividad and wife Kathleen Briones, Porterville, CA; Tom and wife Carolyn Briones,Exeter, CA; Luis E Briones, Exeter, CA; Rosario "Rose" and husband Robert Castaneda, Exeter, CA; and Mario Briones, Visalia, CA. She also leaves behind eight Grandchildren; Julie and Christopher Castaneda, Luis Ray and Christian Briones, Adam Briones, Sylvester Sanchez, David Giltner and Jackie Pitchford as well as eight Great-Grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 1:30 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St., Visalia. Directly following services a rememberance gathering will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center, 506 N. Garden St., Visalia, refreshments will be served. Interment will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, 1:00 pm, at San Joaquin Valley Cemetery, in Gustine.
