Ivergene Petty

She was surrounded by her children. She had lived her life in Visalia,Ca, with a brief 10 years (1970-1980) spent in Fresno, Ca. Ivergene was born on may 30, 1927 to parents Oral Clinton Speight and Lora Marie Smith Speight. She graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1945. In 1946, she married her high school boyfriend, Clinton “Bud” Petty, who had returned home after WWII.

Ivergene is survived by her 4 children: Gary Petty (Kathy), Cathy Oliver (Dean), Loranette Baker (Terry), Paul Petty (Connie), 10 Grandchildren, 22 G Grandchildren, and 6 GG Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton “Bud” Petty, her parents Oral and Lora Speight, sisters Irene Swatzke, Faye Routen, brothers JC Speight, Clifton Speight.

She and Clinton enjoyed traveling. They made many trips to visit Gary and family while they served as missionaries in Venezuela and other trips and cruises to Alaska, Panama, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, Philippines, and So Korea. Together, they enjoyed traveling the USA in their RV, especially visiting National Parks and the California Coastline. Later, after he passed, she continued to travel, going to visit Gary and Kathy in Spain, several cruises, a trip to Greece, and the Holy Land.

She also loved to read and spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and her beautiful flowers.

Ivergene enjoyed serving her community and worked with the Tulare County Election Board during elections for many years. And she served her Lord, in whatever she could do to advance the kingdom of God. In her recent later years, she was a member of the Grove Ave. Church of God, Visalia, Ca.

She enjoyed her home for 22 years and stated: “The only place I want to move to is Heaven to be with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and all those who have gone before me. ‘MARANTHA’. Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus.”

A Visitation for Ivergene will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 West Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA 93291.

A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 1120 West Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA 93291.

A Graveside service will occur Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Visalia Public Cemetery District, 1300 W. Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA 93291.
