Age 81, born January 15, 1942, in Colorado City Texas. Passed away June 7, 2023, in Visalia California
Judy’s Parents were David and Margaret (Laurence) Cope. She and her family moved to Lemoore from Texas in the summer before she started High School in Lemoore where she graduated with the class of 1960. After high school Judy worked for the phone company and graduated from Beauty College prior to becoming the bookkeeper and office manager for Blair Air Service. She married John, her husband of 53 years in 1970 and then helped him establish the engineering business of Zumwalt-Hansen & Associates in 1973. Once the business began to succeed, she became a full-time homemaker and part time participant in the business. With her husband they raised two sons, Butch and Christopher. Butch passed away in 1998. Chris is married to Amber, and they gave Judy 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Adisyn, and Ashton.
Judy was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the Kings Country Club for 50 years and belonged to several bridge clubs until she had to give up both due to vision problems. In the late 1990’s she served on the Kings Art Center Foundation Executive Board. Judy and her family were avid campers from the beginning, starting with tents and finishing with their 7th motorhome. She literally camped everywhere west of the Mississippi River including Alaska and western Canada. She visited every island in Hawaii as well as much of the eastern seaboard, but without the motorhome. She was a kind generous soul who will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be private, but her life will be celebrated at a memorial service and lunch, Friday August 4th at 10:30 AM at the Kings Country Club. Remembrances may be sent to the College of Sequoias Foundation, the Children’s Storybook Garden in Hanford, or the donor’s favorite charity.
