

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Turner of Fresno; her son, Kyle Meyer of Visalia; her two grandchildren, Malakai & Olivia, of Fresno, her father, Wendell Jernigan, of Boise, and her brothers, Jim Jernigan, of Colorado Springs, Tom Jernigan, of Stockton, and Phil Jernigan, of Valencia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Meyer, of Visalia.
Karen was born on October 22, 1958 in Tampa, FL, to parents Wendell and Louise Jernigan. She graduated from Porterville College in Porterville with a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Science. She also earned a degree in Accounting in later years. In 2001 she moved back to Visalia and accepted a position as an Accounting Supervisor at Milan Institute, where she worked for more than 10 years.
Karen was a very smart, ambitious, and an outgoing person. She was a great mother, grandmother, and best friend. She was also active in fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 4pm – 7pm at Miller’s Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1pm at Visalia Public Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen’s life.
