Growing up Marie was a hard-working child with her family. The Velasquez family traveled continuously to do fieldwork which would keep the family afloat but always calling Visalia home. Maire attended high school at Redwood here in Visalia where she would meet her future husband Ezequiel “Kelly” Gutierrez. The couple would start their family at a very young age after Marie graduated high school. Moving to San Jose while their first born was still an infant Marie and Kelly fought hard daily to provide for their family. Moving back to Visalia in the early 90’s Marie returned with three children. She was the ultimate homemaker providing a clean home, hot meals, and a support system for the family. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden. She enjoyed reading books and solving crossword puzzles in her free time. Marie was blessed to watch her family grow by seeing all her grandchildren enter this world.
Marie is preceded in death by her loving Mother Carmen Velasquez, her brother Joe Velasquez, Jr. and her Son, Joshua Steven Gutierrez. Marie will be dearly missed everyday by her husband Ezequiel “Kelly” Gutierrez, two children: Son, Ezequiel Kelly Gutierrez, Jr. and Daughter, Rhianna Kerri Gutierrez; Grandchildren, Vanessa Gutierrez, Alyviah Gutierrez, Ayvah Gutierrez, Ezra Gutierrez and Jenavieve Gutierrez.
