

Marie was born in Mt. Oliver, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1931 to Blase and Mary Rauch. Her family moved to California in 1938 where she grew up in National City. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1949. On April 22, 1950, she married, Norman Earl Reid at St. Mary’s Church in National City. Marie moved to Santa Maria, California in 1991 to be near her family. In 2009, she made a difficult decision to leave Santa Maria and move to Visalia, where she lived with her daughter until her passing.
Marie worshipped at Holy Family Catholic Church and attended their weekly Bible study class where she formed many dear friendships.
Marie worked as an insurance agent in San Diego for many years. She also enjoyed painting with acrylics and all forms of crafts. After retiring, she moved to Santa Maria, California, where she passionately attended her flower gardens.
She was a devoted, loving mother to her four children and all of them would claim her as their best friend.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Reid and her oldest son, Christopher Reid.
Marie leaves, to cherish her memory, three children: Amanda Ingram of Visalia CA, Thomas Reid of Marysville, WA and Anthony Reid of Visalia, CA; two sisters, Esther Roha of Santa Maria, CA and Phyllis Balsavich of National City, CA; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial Mass Services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 @ 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1908 N. Court Street in Visalia, CA. A private inurnment will be held at the Santa Maria Cemetery in Santa Maria, CA.
