Mark Kelvin Andres (Kelly) was born in Riverside, California to Charles and Gloria Andres on July 28, 1965, and passed peacefully from this life on the Morning of December 8, 2020 after a gradual decline in health.
Kelly grew up in Visalia, California where he attended the Visalia Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was baptized in the name of Jesus. He attended and sang for Divisadero Junior High School and graduated from Mt. Whitney High School where he sang for the Men’s Glee and the Mighty Pioneer Choir and was a Student Director for 2 years. He was a student at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California and obtained an Associate of Arts Degree from San Francisco State University. Kelly began his career as a Correctional Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections 1996, working at CCI-Tehachapi before joining the activation crew at Salinas Valley State Prison and subsequently retiring 2019 from California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran. Kelly had the pleasure of working alongside the bravest and most dedicated folks in the state and he was proud to call them his partners and lifelong friends.
Kelly began singing and playing the guitar at a young age. He and his brother often performed at churches, senior living homes and private functions while growing up. Kelly enjoyed singing with his family, but mostly with his bride, Maria. Kelly was a great chess player and a skilled pool player. Growing up, Kelly spent many hours around the pool table with his father, siblings and cousins; his nephews and nieces soon joined the game. If Kelly wasn’t playing his guitar, singing or shooting pool he was either fishing or cruising around on his motorcycle.
Kelly was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Margaret Andres and his nephew, Edward Valentino Andres. He is survived by his Bride of 24 years, Maria Andres; children, Corina Martinez and husband Manuel of Boise, Idaho, Jose (Pepe) Maldonado and wife Mayra of Salinas, California, Celia Garcia and Daniel Valladares of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jacob Maldonado and wife Nancy of Corona, California; His Father, Charles Robert Andres of Visalia, California; Brothers, Charles L.
