Reverend Philip Miller, age 66, passed away and on to Heaven on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia CA. Philip Miller was born on October 30, 1951 in Williams, CA. Philip was married to Peggy Miller on March 17 of 1990, and their love for each other, their family, and their church, was inspiring to all.
Philip had a loving Mom and Dad, Clarence and Heraldine Miller, as well as his older brother, David. Philip played sports in high school and enjoyed hunting. He also played rugby in his twenties and cherished his family and friends that surrounded him. Philip loved the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and the Sacramento Kings, always watching them and going to games as a favorite past time. Philip Miller served Walnut Grove Assembly of God Church, ten years as associate Pastor and fifteen years as senior Pastor. He dedicated his life to see lost souls find Jesus. Whenever someone needed food, he would feed them. Those seeking shelter would call him. He would make home visits, hospital visits and care for those in need. He truly loved people and served those around him to the best of his ability.
Although Philip helped many people and preached many messages from the podium, his greatest joy was found in his family. Not too long before he passed he told his wife, Peggy, that his greatest reward was that all his children and grandchildren were serving the Lord; that if he never saw anything else, that alone made him happy and fulfilled. It’s hard to put into words the legacy that Philip made. Before he ever stepped foot into the church, he was obedient to loving his household.
Before Philip Miller was a pastor, he was a husband, dad, friend, brother, and son. As Philip passed into eternity he was in presence of his family and most importantly, his Savior. Reverend Philip Miller, an amazing man of God, a true hero of the faith. Missed and touched by many, loved by his family, and now home.
Philip was preceded in death by his Dad, Clarence Miller and his brother, David. Philip is survived by his mother, Heraldine, his wife, Peggy, his two sons, Jarrod and Josh, his daughter, Casey, his son-in-law, Maison, his daughter-in-law, Claudia, his grandchildren, Hannah, Micaela, Rebekah, Josiah, Abigail, Joannah, Nathaniel, and Katherine.
Philip Miller’s memorial service will be held for his church family on Friday, March 2nd, 3pm at Walnut Grove Assembly of God in Ivanhoe. The following day, on March 3rd, there will be an additional memorial service for family and friends at the Assembly of God Church in Williams, California.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Walnut Grove Assembly of God Outreach Program, so that we can honor Pastor Phil’s passion to reach out to the lost.
