Rudy Salinas, Jr. was born on October 9, 1963 in Visalia, California to Rodolfo and Dora (Mejia) Salinas. Surrounded by his family Rudy went to meet the Lord on January 5, 2025 in Visalia, California.
Rudy was a serious and quiet person, throughout the years on this earth, his loved ones are proud to say, his heart grew with the love for his family every day.
Rudy attended Fairview Elementary School, Green Acres Middle School and Sequoia High School of Visalia.
He was very active, as child he learned Karate and he loved to wrestle with his little sister, Lisa. He enjoyed playing baseball and riding bikes until the sun went down. Rudy enjoyed family vacations to Las Vegas, NV as he waited on the casino stairs with his youngest sister Lisa, after Circus Circus would close for the night; while their parents went to have their own fun. He also enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe, amusement parks such as Magic Mountain, but perhaps Rudy’s favorite place was Arizona to visit Old Tucson. Rudy loved to watch western movies after visiting Old Tucson. Rudy’s love for western movies never changed as years went by, he would say that the western shows would remind him of his father who passed away 20 years ago. Rudy would cherish those memories for the years to come.
As he became older his health became important to him. He kept riding his bike getting his exercise in, watching what he would eat and the time he spent in the gym. Taking care of himself helped him with those long bike rides all over Visalia and to visit everyone who knew everywhere else. Another of his joys was going to the movies with his niece and nephew, and taking a stroll down Main Street after the movie.
Rudy also loved to go to the gun ranges to shoot his gun. He also enjoyed playing pool with his sisters, Linda, Dora and his niece Cristina in the Break Room. Rudy enjoyed many BBQ's at his nephew Peto and Vero’s house. He loved his nephews cookouts, especially those big juicy hamburgers Peto would cook for him. Rudy's other pride and joy was his best bud Cory. He would ride with Cory on his bike to the barbershop and sometimes stop at the Houston Hut for a bite.
When news of his sickness became known, it was a shock to all. Rudy had been diagnosed with cancer. This might have put a stone in his path but he never gave up. With his family’s support, he was still sharing his love for his family. As he soon became bedridden, he was able to spend more time with all his family. Rudy spent a lot of time with his new brother in law Adam. Adam would put him in the wheelchair and take him for walks around the neighborhood, Rudy really enjoyed that time with him. He would also get online and play video games with his nephew Phylip, Izzy, and Jakob. There was one person that Rudy adored and loved with all his heart, his mother Dora, known to all by Nana. His fight to live was for his mother. On occasions and almost daily, remembering events with Rudy would bring many laughs and peace to the family that enjoyed his time left on earth.
Everyone in the family thank the Lord for the time He gave us Rudy, a son, brother and uncle. Everyone who knew Rudy was a witness that he gave his heart to the Lord as he joined Him On January 5th, 2025.
Rudy leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Dora M. Salinas; his two sisters, Lisa Salinas Holguin, and Dora Ann Salinas Frausto; his only Goddaughter and niece Christine Huerta and his many nieces and nephews.
The family would like thank to Kaweah Delta Hospices for the care and support they provided Rudy as he fought this long fight with cancer. A special thanks to Della, for her time and words in these hard times. Words of appreciation are not enough to express the family’s gratitude.
A Visitation for Rudy will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a Funeral Service by Bishop Robert Hooks will be at 4:00 PM.
