

Tylene Howard, a longtime resident of Visalia went to be with Jesus on September 7, 2015. Tylene, the youngest of six children, was born to William Rufus and Addie Hardin on July 19, 1926 in Haskell County, Texas. Most of her childhood, she grew up in and around Stamford, Texas. At age 19, Tylene moved to California and settled in Visalia. In June 1946, she met the love of her life, C. Ralph Howard. They were married five months later.Throughout her life, Tylene was actively engaged in serving the Lord she loved. As a loving wife and mother, she attended to the needs of her family. In the church, she served as a Sunday school teacher to children of various ages. As a giver, she was known to cook and distribute home- cooked dishes to the sick and to the bereaved. She always gave as a cheerful giver. As a gifted homemaker, Tylene kept a summer garden for decades. She shared with family, friends, and neighbors fruits of her harvests. She never wanted anything to go to waste. She was not ashamed of her commitment to Christ, and shared the love of Jesus with whomever she talked. Even in the assisted living where she lived her last 19 months, she visibly showed and voiced her love for her Savior. Tylene will be remembered for her faithfulness to her Lord and her family. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and her way of giving will be missed by the lives of those she has touched. Tylene is survived by four children, Deltra Cagle and husband, Bill of Payson, Utah, Mardys Hofer and husband, Gary of Fresno, CA, Rodney Howard of Squaw Valley, CA, and Brian Howard of Visalia, CA; seven grandchildren, Caisha Rhoden, Rhys Hofer Kuzmic, Capryl Chesley, Corbin Prine, Travis Hofer, Susan Rabine, Brizek Howard, and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Ralph Howard in 2004 and by her sister Merdell Longley in 2013.Tylene was a member and supporter of The Shepherd's Voice Church of Visalia.Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave. in Visalia on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel with burial at the Visalia District Cemetery.Remembrances may be made to Gideons International at www.gideons.org.
