

Velma Rose Brumbaugh, 86, of Visalia CA passed away in the early morning hours of April 4, 2017 in the Hanford hospital. She liked to say she was born in Poland....Ohio to John Roy and Pinkie Susan (Evers) Miller on August 3, 1930. She married the love of her life, John W. Brumbaugh on August 29, 1953 in Woodworth, Ohio. They met during their time in the Brethren Volunteer Service. They spent many years raising their family in Elgin, IL, where Velma worked for Camp Fire Girls and for the Brethren General Offices. Later they lived in Lake Havasu City AZ, and Lemon Grove, CA, where Velma enjoyed working at Point Loma Nazarene College. They also lived in Apple Valley, CA before moving to Bonners Ferry, ID to be near their daughter and grandchildren. After John's death, Velma moved to Visalia, CA to be near her son and grandchildren. She was a member of the Parkside Church in Visalia.
Velma was well known for her work in the Grief Ministry as well as her sense of humor. She loved to sew, paint and make dolls. She felt that a day was not complete unless she had created something. Grandchildren remember her extensive games collection.
She is survived by her son and daughter and their spouses: John and Cassie Brumbaugh, and Jenny and Burt Lundak. She has many beloved grandchildren: Danyette (Adrian) Rosenbusch, Jakob (Becky) Holt, Tiffany Sullivan, Teresa (Jeremy) Stidham, Christine (Shawn) Kittlesen, Conor Brumbaugh, Andrea Sargent, Jon (Rachel) Lundak and Laura (Tyler) Jinright and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and siblings: John W Brumbaugh Jr., J. Roy and Pinkie Sue Miller, Harold (Wilda) Miller, Lillie (Randal) Black, Ferne Miller, and Violette (Leroy) Reese.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
