Danny:  So sorry to hear about Ellis leaving us.  So wished we could be there for you today, but know that we are there in our thoughts and prayers.  Sure hope you will keep in touch with the family from time to time.  Your folk were always so good to come to the reunion held each  year for the family.  They will be missed. I haven't seen you in many,many years but I grew up around you,your mom and dad while pop worked at NCR.  We used to come to yall's house off Two Notch.  The last time I saw your mom, she brought me a baby shawl that she knitted when my first son was about to be born. I really am sorry to hear about your dad passing.  You had some great parents and I know they were proud of you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Our parents were the best of friends ever since they met at Main Street United Methodist Church.  They enjoyed so many activities with each other and also with the A.B. Ferguson Sunday School Class.  I grew up knowing Danny.

Now Ellis has joined his beloved wife, Myrtle.  What are grand union for Ellis to be with Myrtle and Ruth & Willard Morgan again...Plus all his other family & friends.

No more sorrow or tears.  Just joy in being in the loving arms of his Lord & Savior..  Ellis, you will always be missed.  We loved you.

One of Patton's soldiers, a charter member of the Greatest Generation. My father's older brother, my last surviving uncle. I never tired of prodding him to tell me of his time serving his country, risking his life, saving the world. Now, sadly, one less voice to tell those tales, even as there are more and more who need to hear them.

On Monday, he rejoined the love of his life, my Aunt Myrtle, who to my mind, taught by Uncle Ellis's economy of syllables, will always be "Myrt." (His hesitation to squander the resource of words will surely be evident when St. Peter asks if he would like to come in. "Yep," will be the almost certain response or, if he is feeling more talkative, perhaps "I s'pose.")

He had his father's gift for understanding how things work, and made his career in electronics. When he began at NCR, he certainly did not imagine that on his passing his nephew would be able, from a keyboard not far from his old office, to make immediate, worldwide distribution of a few, fond memories. A new world that in several ways he helped make possible.

Uncle Ellis is survived by his son, my cousin Dan, who is left to soldier on, and by his sister, our Aunt Mattie.

Oddly symmetrical family coincidence: My mother was born on the third anniversary of his birth; and he died (on my sister's sixtieth birthday) one day short of the third anniversary of my mother's death.

Rest in peace, Uncle Ellis. You've earned it. Give my love to Mom and Dad.
