Evelyn Coker Kirton of West Columbia, SC died peacefully at home on June 5, 2025. Evelyn retired from the Department of Youth Services. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church in West Columbia. She liked to go bowling and make crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Vera Coker; brother, Gene Coker; son, Roy Kirton; and sister, Helen C. O’Cain.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Basil Kirton; son, Basil Kirton, Jr. (Dottie); granddaughter, Kimber Kirton; great-granddaughter, Kayla Breanne; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Kirton; nieces, Crystal and Jeanie Rose (Tim); and brother-in-law, Lindo O’Cain.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170, with burial to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.
Please dress casual for the service.
