Franklin D. Dotson

Franklin D. Dotson, 87 of West Columbia, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024. He retired as an Area District Manager with Conoco after a 30 year career. He held the positions of Store Manager, District Manager and Area Manager.

Frank was the husband of the late Phyllis Sue Dotson whom he was married to for 67 years. He was the son of Ruth and Rufus Dotson and survived by his brother, Larry Dotson Rock Hill, SC. He leaves behind his three children, Suzanne Hook (Robert) West Columbia, SC, Franklin Dotson Jr. (Bonnie) Rock Hill, SC, and Patricia Shippee (Steve) Mount Pleasant, SC; Grandchildren, Michael Hook Jr. (Jessica) Lexington, SC, Jeffrey Sigley, Jr. (Emily) Lexington SC, Meredith Abel (Luke) Blythewood, SC, Nicholas Hook West Columbia, SC and Katelyn Hudson (Graylon) Johns Island, SC; Great grandchildren, Keira Roberson, Jace Sigley and Parrish Sigley. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Charlie.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Florida and Alaska. They drove 13 times from West Columbia, SC to Alaska and always came home with an abundance of the finest Alaskan salmon. He loved to smoke salmon and can salmon, chicken and vegetables. He also loved to make fig jelly from the fig trees in his backyard. He was a dedicated fisherman and avid deer hunter.

The family would like to give special thanks to Sandra Freeman and Linda Gantt for the outstanding homecare and love they provided for our dad. We would also like to thank the staff at Carroll Campbell Memory Care Place and MSA Hospice for their support and care.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 3, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm followed by a short ceremony and a private burial.
