

Gerald Edward Ringer, Jr, 57, passed away with his caring bride by his side after a courageous battle with cancer at the Hospice House of Cabarrus on Friday, December 8, 2017. He was born September 7, 1960 in Columbia, SC to Ann Riddle Stanton and the late Gerald Edward Ringer, Sr.
He was a loving husband, a devoted father and is survived by his wife Kimberly Falls of Charlotte, NC, and his two sons Erich and Max from a previous marriage to Stephanie Inabinet Ringer of Sumter, SC, his mother Ann Riddle Stanton of West Columbia, SC, two brothers Steven Ringer (wife Beverly) of Batesburg, SC, Hiram Ringer (wife Kendal) of Gilbert SC, a sister Ann-Marie Holland (husband Ben) West Columbia, SC, six nephews, two nieces and 2 great nieces along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Building Science and Management, 1982, and worked as a Construction Project Manager for over 30 years. He was very proud of his work for companies such as Mechanical Systems and Services, Inc on federal projects like the Presidential Museums, and Cherokee, Inc of Columbia, SC on projects like the Columbia Canal Embankment Walkway and Esplanade. He made major impacts on his chosen profession by working with a small group to update a major SC underground utility safety law to include national standards and best practices which then influenced NC to update their laws as well. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1978. He was a member of the American General Contractors (AGC), American Subcontractors Association (ASA) and Irmo/St. Andrews Sertoma Club.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Crossroads World Outreach Center, 2606 Emanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC. Visitation from 11:30 to 1, funeral from 1 to 2pm with the graveside service from 2 to 2:30 at Southland Memorial Gardens at 700 East Dunbar West Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sertoma Club at www.sertoma.org or Head and Neck Cancer Alliance at www.headandneck.org.
