John “Ken” Martin of Pelion went to be with our Lord and Savior on the morning of March 11, 2024. He grew up in Cayce and was known for his love of Nascar, Harleys, and having a good time. Also known as a jokester, Ken could light up any room with his amusement! He loved his family more than anything and always supported his children and grandchildren. Ken worked for many years at Norfolk Southern Railroad after diligently serving our country in the Army. A man with many qualities who loved to travel, he most certainly made the most of his time here on earth. After retiring from the railroad, Ken and his wife Cindy loved quality time together traveling and camping, especially by the lake. In his later years, nothing seemed to make that man happier than spending time with his family on his pontoon boat on the lake. Ken will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Peace can be found in knowing he is now with the Lord. May he rest in peace.
Ken is preceded in death by his father Colie Martin, mother Mary Martin; brother, Robert Martin; and sister, Kathy Martin. He is survived by his wife Cindy Martin; daughters Tracy Yarborough (Bodie) and Shanna Banks (Anthony); sons, Scottie Lemonds (Missi), Richard Brown, and Michael Brown (Christina); grandchildren David Yarborough (Lindsey), Lexie Yarborough, Anaya Eichelberger, Adara-Zo Banks, Anthony Banks III (Maiah), Wade Thomas, Jules Lemonds, Lillian Brown; great-grandchildren Riley Jane Yarborough, Alivia Banks; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Celestial Memorial Gardens on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 10:30 am for visitation followed by a service and graveside memorial at 11:30 am.
