Loretta S. Poston

Loretta Poston, 84, was born September 8, 1937 in West Columbia, SC and passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Colon Alan Stokes and Bessie Mae Jeffers Stokes. She was a loving mother, aunt and most importantly Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family so much. She adored her fur babies, Lizzy and Lou.

Ms. Poston retired from the President’s office at the University of South Carolina. She was a huge Gamecock fan. Loretta loved to travel to the Smoky Mountains. She enjoyed spending time outside with God’s animals.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Poston, Clifton Poston and Kimberly Poston-Crouch; grandchildren, Bobby Randall Jr. (Julia), Michael Randall, Barbie Randall, Dustin Poston, Tyler Poston, Gary Crouch, Kara Thompson (Allen); and several great grandchildren. Loretta is predeceased by her grandson, Scott Roger Crouch II; her former husband, Scottie C. Poston. Loretta was the last surviving sibling of eight, Verna Mae Manos, Eugene Stokes, Louise Langley, William Stokes, Betty Ellisor, Evelyn S. Earhart, and Jeanette Goodwin.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with burial to be followed at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
