CAYCE – Funeral services for Ralph Palmer Thompson, 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dr. Jimmy Quinn Scholarship Fund at State Street Baptist Church or Agape Hospice House, 141 Stoneridge, Columbia, SC 29210.
Mr. Thompson was born February 17, 1926 in Candler, NC and passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was a son of the late William Thompson and Cordie Ballard Thompson. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church. Mr. Thompson served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He retired from Greyhound as a driver for thirty years.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Slagle Thompson; son, Tommy Thompson (Marsha); daughter, Susan Wollenberg (Larry); son, Steven Thompson (Joann); 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Dub Thompson and sisters, Helen Thompson and Shirley Conger. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Wayne Thompson and sister, Lil Wingo.
