Richard Castles Sharpe passed away suddenly and went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025. Richard was born in Columbia, SC on August 9, 1955 but lived his entire life in Charleston west of the Ashley.
He is survived by his daughter, Mirrel Castles Sharpe; brothers, John Phillip Sharpe and Wilbur Franklin Sharpe Jr. (Marilee); many nieces, grand nieces, nephews, and his dog, Chuck.
He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbur Franklin Sharpe Sr. and Margie Castles Sharpe.
Richard was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church. He attended schools in Camden, Spartanburg and Charleston where he earned several degrees. Richard was a mechanical contractor and owned several heating & air conditioning and food service equipment businesses. He loved boating, fishing, gardening and working out at St Andrews Family Fitness Center. Richard was always available to help when needed and will be surely missed by family, friends and all of his neighbors.
A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, January 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the services at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.
