Raised in West Columbia, Steve graduated from Airport High School in 1977, carrying forward a steady sense of purpose that would mark the years to come. Through a life shaped by loyalty and devotion, he became deeply cherished by those who knew him best.
Steve built a long and hard-working career with Dominion Energy, retiring as a large customer account manager. His dedication to his work reflected the same dependable commitment he offered to family and friends—quietly steadfast, consistently present, and always reliable.
He is survived by his wife, Connie M. Vaughn; sons, Matthew Vaughn (Lindsay) and Clayton Vaughn (Jamie); son in law, Brad Vaughn; Mother, Freddie Brown Vaughn; sister, Laurie Vaughn; and grandchildren, Aydan, Addison, Beckham, Hudson, Conner, Cooper and Emily, who knew him lovingly as “Gandaddy.” He was predeceased by his daughter, Olivia Vaughn, and his father, Bobby C. Vaughn.
Steve loved the Gamecocks and found joy in time spent on the golf course and on his Harley-Davidson. He was part of a Professional Motorcycle Group that road every state in the US—an accomplishment that spoke to his enduring spirit and the deep satisfaction he found in the open road.
