LEXINGTON – Ronald “Ron” Wayne Mitchell, 64, was violently killed Monday, July 23, 2012 by a hit and run driver. Born June 8, 1948 in West Columbia, SC, he was known as “Alabama Ron” the biggest Alabama Fan.
Ron is survived by his children, Jim Mitchell, Veronica Mitchell Tiedemann, Ronnie Anderson, Mary Leigh Mitchell and Tanya Mitchell; brothers, Horace Taeger, David Mitchell, Tommy Taeger and Jimmy Taeger; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 on the way and many nieces; nephews and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Crews; brothers, Talmadge Mitchell and Charles Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral home, West Columbia Chapel.
