Thomas N. Mcbride

WEST COLUMBIA – Thomas Neil McBride, “Papa Tom”, 76, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015. He was the son of the late John W. McBride and Bernice Lorette McBride, and husband to the late Glenda Faye McBride.

Tom enjoyed helping others, having meals with friends and family at Just Us Café, and working outdoors. He was proud to work for the Parks Department of the City of Cayce as a groundskeeper for many years where he developed deep and loving friendships with many people. In addition to many dear friends, he leaves behind his sister Aly Pafumi, his children (and their spouses) Thomas Neil McBride, Jr. (Michelle), Danny Thomas McBride (Maria), Scotty Eugene Hudgins (Marilyn), Angelia Faith Kerr (Westy), and Kelly Patrick McBride (Lori). Tom’s grandchildren include Brendan Neil McBride, Casey Kathleen McBride, Riley Thomas McBride, Kyle Patrick McBride, Jennifer Marie McBride, Julie Jean McBride, Misty Dawn Cofer (great granddaughter, Autumn Sky Cofer), Taylor Sarah Kerr, Colin Patrick McBride, and Landon Ellis McBride.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel (700 West Dunbar Street, West Columbia, SC 29170). A graveside service led by Pastor Bobby Girard will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens (820 West Dunbar Street, West Columbia, SC 29170) on Thursday, August 13th at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Tom’s memory to The Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. This facility was a place of community, love, laughter, and support for both Tom and his family during his final months. There are not enough words to express our tremendous thanks to the nurses and assistants that cared for him and us each and every day.
