Adele was born in Nabay, Lebanon near Beirut on December 28, 1911 to John Ferris and Martha Koury Abbott. She and Martha immigrated to America in 1922 to join John in Waco after his service in WWI. She attended business school in Houston. She was married to Abe Assad Khoury on August 15, 1932. They were married more than 45 years. They had no children. Adele was Godmother to many nieces and nephews. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister and sister-in-law; a beloved Aunt, Auntie, great-aunt, great-great aunt, cousin and precious friend to all who were blessed to know her. She was an accomplished woman in all her endeavors which included cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She was a gracious hostess and mentor to many. Adele was a professional business woman alongside her husband Abe for many years with Khoury Brokerage Company. She was loved for her contagious smile and kind, loving, generous spirit. She was a devoted Christian and lover of Jesus.
Adele is survived by her sisters Rosemary Abbott Fadal and Eileen Abbott Peace as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister Victoria Abbott Montanio.
The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Wesley Woods Home where Adele resided the past 5 ½ years., for their dedication and loving service; as well as the loving staff at Providence St. Catherine’s Hospice who cared for her and our family with great compassion and kindness in her final days. Without them this journey would have been unbearable.
