

Doris Cox of Waco passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the age of 88. Graveside services and interment will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Carol Hambrick officiating, under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 West Waco Drive. Visitation will be 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Cox was born July 24 1924, in Ouray, Colorado. On January 3, 1942, she married Edward Cox in Gunnison, Colorado. After sixty years of marriage, he preceded her in death October 21, 2003. In 1945, the couple moved to Texas and she was employed as a bookkeeper for Blanton’s Flowers in Waco for about ten years.
Doris was an active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church where she was active in the Sunday School program as long as her health permitted. Throughout her life, she had a close relationship with the Lord and took great joy and pride in witnessing to everyone. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. It has been said she was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan.
Survivors include a son Mike Cox and wife Becky of Burleson; two daughters, Emily Schroeder and husband Roy of Temple, Cathy Woodruff of Waco; two sisters, Emily Pickrel and Ellen Axelson both of Englewood, Colorado; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren with one on the way.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the Meals on Wheels Program and the fantastic staff of Royal Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care shown to Doris.
