Dorothy M. Pate Hawkins

Dorothy M (Pate) Hawkins, age 88, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7th at 10 a.m. at Connally /Compton Funeral Directors Chapel in Waco with Rev. Rumaldo Jimenez officiating and burial to follow in the Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors on Tuesday, September 6th.

Dorothy was born on June 24, 1923 to Maggie (Jones) and Sam Pate in Waco, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Waco. Dorothy operated several taverns as well as Dorothy’s Lounge in Waco. She loved her grandchildren and especially her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Maggie (Jones) Pate; husband, Johnny Lee Hawkins; son, Woody McCormick; great-grandson, Christopher Coleman.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memories are her granddaughters, Melissa McCormick and husband, Grady Coleman of Waco and Lori Smith of Riesel; great-granddaughters, Patricia Dyess and husband, Lyndon Davis, Dorothy Dyess, Marrissa Coleman and Ashley Smith all of Waco; great-grandsons, Jacob Vaughn and Dylan Smith of Waco; 8 great- great grandchildren; niece, Emma Linkous and husband, Calvin of Waco; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
