

Evelyn McDonald, age 100, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 in Waco. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco with Reverend Stephen Rynearson officiating. Burial to follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Evelyn was born on August 29, 1921 to Otto and Bertha Wolff Homeyer in Caldwell, Texas. In 1942, she graduated from Seton Hospital School of Nursing in Austin and in 1952 from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Education. She served as registered nurse in the United States Air Force from 1943-1946, part of this time serving as a flight nurse with Air Force Transport Command. In 1983, she retired from the Waco V. A. Hospital.
Evelyn was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church serving as Sunday School teacher, Altar Guild, Ruth Circle Bible Study, Women of the Church, and Stitch and Chatter Group. On March 12, 1954, she and Francis (Mac) McDonald were married by the Reverend Dr. Waldamer Schilberg at Erding A.F. Base Chapel near Munich, Germany. Mac preceded her in death on February 21, 2002 after 47 years of marriage and brother and sister-in-law Edward and Johnnie Ruth Homeyer.
Survivors include her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Jerry and Anne McDonald of Austin, Rodney and Cheryl of McKinney; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rod Lambes of Keller; four grandchildren: Amanda and Sarah McDonald, Parker and Paige Lambes; numerous nieces and nephews.
