

Gene Cochrane, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, in Waco. Funeral Service will be Friday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home.
Gene was born on November 10, 1926 to Clement and Ruth Hays Cochrane in Ewing, Illinois. He was a longtime resident of Waco and a member of Bosqueville United Methodist Church. Gene served in the Army during World War II. He retired in 1994 from VanTran Electric where he worked as Comptroller and Vice President. Gene loved traveling through 49 states, which he enjoyed going to the Grand Ole Opry, and trips to Branson, MO. He enjoyed wood-working, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cochrane; father, Clement Virgil Cochrane and mother, Ruth Lucille Cochrane Prior.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Cochrane of Waco; daughters, Tanna Ritter and husband, Tom of Elgin,Trina Cochrane and husband, Curtis of Waco; son, Wesley Bailey and wife, Rose of Valley Mills; grandchildren: Tracie Kitchen and friend, Floyd of Elgin, Tommy Ritter and wife, Cheri of Elgin, Tyson Smith and wife, Meagan of Huntington, IN, Danielle Dennis and husband, Dayle of Waco, Patricia Bailey and friend, Jermon of Moody, Tanna- Marie Cochrane of Waco, Misty Smith and husband, Steve of Crawford, Jerod Yvon and friend, Kim of Waco, Matt Monroe and wife, Donna of China Springs, and Courtney Monroe of Waco; great-grandchildren: Cody and wife, Elise, Landen, Zack, Jordan, Chloe, Evie, Keira, Emma, Bella, Kole, Dusty, and Cason; sister, Mary Ann Jacobs and husband, Kent of St. Louis; brother, Don Cochrane and wife, Barbara of Goreville, Illinois; extended family, Gary and Melva Gruber.
