Geneva Alaman was born September 1, 1945, educated and reared in Marlin, Texas.
She married Ben Ramirez, an Army Soldier, on May 10, 1963 at Fort Hood, Texas and served with him, except for combat duties, in many parts of the world for 31 years. When her spouse was on combat assignments, she continued to directly support her children in various parts of the United States and several assignments in Europe.
Jen did visit her husband in Hawaii during her husband’s Vietnam War week break.
Jen enjoyed participating in numerous sport activities to include softball, jogging, and bowling, for which she received many high scores, averages and trophy awards. Another sport she liked was hiking in many parts of Germany/Europe to include the Black Forest, Neuschwanstein Castle, Austria, Venice, Paris and England.
When the border walls dividing West Germany and the Communist countries were being torn down, Jenny was among the first groups of American visitors to enter Czechoslovakia, a former communist country.
Geneva was an extremely energetic lawn/yard keeper which was recognized by her receipt of several yard awards, especially while she and her husband were assigned to Fort Hood.
As a child, Geneva often practiced tennis on Marlin’s Safeway parking lot and building, which was located near her home. This led to tennis being her favorite sports program which she watched whenever she could.
Jen is survived by her husband, Bernardo “Ben”; daughters, Barbara and Tammy; sons, Ben Jr. and Mitchell and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family is very thankful for the assistance provided by Providence Hospital and especially the kind, helpful and professional care received from the hospice staff.
Mrs. “Jen” Ramirez, wife, mom, and friend, will surely be missed by all.
Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
