Geraldine (Jerry) Patterson, aged 84, passed away March 9, 2013 after a courageous 14 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jerry was born in Arkansas and moved with her family to Lubbock, Texas where she met her husband Forest. They then moved to Waco and he predeceased her 30 years to the day. Never being one to undervalue education, Jerry attended both MCC and Baylor University. After her husband’s passing, Jerry had an opportunity to join a local art class and for the next two decades pursued her newfound talent. Her paintings won numerous awards, most notably several blue ribbons at the State Fair of Texas. In 2004 Jerry relocated to the Austin area to be closer to her daughter, brother, and sister-in-law and recently accompanied her daughter to the Phoenix, Arizona area. Jerry leaves a daughter, two brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and caring friends. Visitation will be Wednesday March 13th from 5-7PM at Connally-Compton Funeral Home, with graveside service Thursday March 14th at 10AM in Waco Memorial Park. The family gives heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Jerry during her illness. Her daughter requests your consideration of donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jerry’s memory such that a cure and more effective treatments for this disease may be found.
