Helen Marie Sartain Vaughn

Helen Marie Vaughn, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 28, at 2 p.m., at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Buddy Cvitanovich officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 28, prior to the service. Interment will be on Saturday, October 29 at 12 PM at Russell Cemetery in Rusk where she will be laid to rest beside her loving parents.

Helen was born on April 3, 1931 to Dewey and Hettie (Golemon) Sartain in Rusk, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Waco and she worked 20 years at the Griddle Drive Inn in Waco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Hettie Sartain; brother, Bo Sartain; husband, Louis Vaughn in 1963 and a very special friend, Billy “Doodle” Jackson in 2010.

Helen leaves behind her loving daughters, Diane Cvitanovich and husband, Buddy of Sherman, Donna Carlisle and husband, Jimmy of Waco; son, James Vaughn of Quantico, Virginia; grandsons, Matt Cvitanovich and wife, Heather of Fort Worth, Lucas Carlisle of Waco and Zachary Carlisle and wife, Katie of Cedar Park, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ty and Ashlynn Carlisle; sister, Bess Hudson and husband, Tom of Rusk and sister-in-law, Virginia Sartain of Rusk; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Village nursing home for all their loving care and support.
