Lorraine (Lorenza) Tellez Montelongo

Lorraine (Lorenza) Tellez Montelongo, age 77, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Soler officiating. Family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. and with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors.

Lorraine was born July 7, 1934 to Lorenzo Tellez and Leonarda Beltran Tellez in Rosebud, Texas. She married Leonardo Montelongo, Sr. in Fresno, California in 1952. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church since 1957, where she served as the Eucharist Minister and also a part of Cursillos and Apostalo. Then Lorraine attended McLennan Community College where she received her GED. She was employed with McLennan Health Mental Retardation where she was appointed as Deputy Sheriff from 1971-1973. During her employment she attended numerous training which included McLennan Community College Education, Social Work Services Training, Community Service Aides’ training course and HOT Regional Police Academy-Basic Law Enforcement course, The Juvenile Offender and Law Enforcement course. She retired after 20 years serving as a nurse assistant at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Waco. Lorraine exhibited efficiency and professional integrity toward her clients. Her sensitivity to the needs and feelings of people were readily observable and she seemed to have a “Knack” for responding therapeutically to people. Lorraine received numerous Performance Awards while employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

She enjoyed many hobbies such as reading, planting and working outside with her roses and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo Tellez and Leonarda Beltran Tellez.; daughter, Julia Montelongo; brother, Catarino Tellez; sisters, Petra Rodriquez, Santiaga Lopez and Concepcion Carrizales.

Lorraine leaves behind her husband, Leonardo Montelongo, Sr. , daughters, Hilda Galindo and husband Apolinar, Jr. , and Diana Villafana and Isaac Martinez; sons, Ernest Montelongo, Sr. and wife, Stella, and 1st Sergeant Retired Leonardo Montelongo, Jr. ; grandchildren, Natalie Renee and Erik Galindo, Ernie and Jennica Montelongo, Johnny Jr. and wife, Jessica and Daniel Villafana, Gina Ramirez , Angela Avila and Jason Ramon, JoAnna and husband, Chris DeLeon , Orlando Sr. and Allysa Montelongo; great-grandchildren, Gianna and Isaiah Montelongo, Noah and Jisela Villafana, Natalie and Jacob Casiano, J’Lynn Ramon, Mia DeLeon and Orlando Montelongo, Jr. ; brother, Jose and wife, Martha Tellez; sisters, Leonor Lopez and Guadalupe Rael of San Diego, CA

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
