Nellie White Slough

Nellie M. White Slough, 87, of Whitney, formerly of Waco, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Pastor Bobby Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, August 22nd at the funeral home.

Mrs. Slough was born on June 27, 1929 in Ross, Texas to L.C. and Laura (English) Morris. She married A.T. White in 1946 and they were married for over 53 wonderful years together until his death on April 28, 2000. Mr. and Mrs. White owned and operated White’s Dry Cleaners for over 47 years. She loved to sew for her girls when they were young and she loved her family dearly. On May 28, 2005 she married Edward Slough and they celebrated over 11 wonderful years together. Mrs. Slough was a member of the Red Hat Club, Towash Baptist Church and a former member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and 7 brothers.

Survivors include her husband; Edward Slough, sons; A.T. White, Jr. and his wife, Melanie and Morris Allen White, daughters; Donna Gwyn Etheridge and Bridgett Denise Sudduth, step sons; Robert Slough and his wife, Carolyn, Steven Slough and David R. Slough, step daughter; Sharon Evre, brother; Billy Morris and his wife, Peggy and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
