Robert “Big Rob” Moreno went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2021. Robert was born on April 3, 1959, in Waco, Texas. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and friend to so many. Robert met his wife, Julie Moreno, when they were teenagers at Cameron Park, where they carved their names in a tree, and their love endured for 44 years. During his marriage, Robert became a father to two precious and beautiful daughters, Mary Ann Moreno, Alyssa Ann Uvalle and a handsome son Mark Moreno. Robert was also a grandfather to Luciano Chaparro, Mila, and Mariah Uvalle. Robert loved and adored his role as a grandfather, and his grandchildren were his world. Robert was his children’s best friend, and he would do anything to make sure his family had the world at their feet. Robert had a positive impact on all who had the privilege to know and love him. Wherever Robert went, he always made a friend. His home was filled with laughter and love, and when you went to Robert’s house, you felt like part of the family. Robert was the life of the party, always sharing a joke, or showing off his smooth dance moves to make everyone laugh. Robert was an honorary father to so many. He spent the weekends teaching “the boys” about cars and sitting outside “high-siding.” Robert was a jokester, a pit master, an expert mechanic, and a dedicated and loyal Cowboys fan (which was difficult at times). Saturdays were spent with his family and included breakfast at the McGregor Coffee Shop and Sam’s Club. Game days were filled with good food, laughter, and colorful language. He loved westerns, especially those starring John Wayne. You could often catch Robert sitting in the kitchen at his home watching the western channel. He enjoyed grilling and barbequing for his family and friends. If you had his brisket, well, let’s just say you were blessed. Robert loved to break out in dance with his wife, Julie. He was known for his sharp dressing, including his cowboy hats, cowboy boots (especially his gator boots), and baseball caps. Robert was a hard worker. In addition to working full-time at Clayton Mobile Homes, he also worked a side-job in the evenings helping his cousin remodel houses. Robert considered this side-job his hobby. He was always on the move, cutting the grass, cleaning the yard, washing his truck, and helping his wife around the house. Robert loved life, and he made every moment count. He truly left his mark on this world, and his passing is a tremendous loss that will be felt by so many. However, Robert’s legacy of love and joy will live on in everyone who knew and loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Hortencia Mendieta, his grandmother Molly Moreno, his grandfather Santiago Moreno, uncles Alfred Molina, Bobby Moreno, and grandson Angelo Bo Chaparro.
He is survived by his wife Julie Moreno, daughters Mary Ann Moreno, Alyssa Uvalle and husband Mark Uvalle, son Mark Moreno, grandchildren Luciano Chaparro, Mila and Mariah Uvalle, sister Mary Helen Ramirez and husband Jose Ramirez, sister Francis Rodriguez and husband Frank Rodriguez, brother Johnny Moreno and wife Maria Moreno, and brother Raymond Moreno. He is also survived by many loving family members, including sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunts, and friends who he considered family.
