Valentine Castaneda

Valentine Castaneda, of Waco, Texas passed away Oct. 14, 2011 at home surrounded by her husband, Macedonio S. Castaneda of 61 years and her loving family. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11 o’clock a.m. at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors with Chaplain Larry Holden.

Valentine was born on February 6, 1930 to Pedro and Vicenta Padilla in Asa, Texas. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of the Waco Missions.

Valentine was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Vicenta Padilla; brothers, Marciliano Padilla, Pedro Padilla, John Padilla, and Joe Padilla; sister, Manuela Contreras; son, Martin Castaneda; daughter, Gloria Castaneda; granddaughter, Valentine Castaneda and great grandchild, Tyson Macedonio Johnson.

Valentine survived by her husband, Macedonio Castaneda; son, Ramon Castaneda and wife, Janie; daughter, Janie Salazar and husband, Gilbert Sr.; and youngest son, Macedonio Castaneda Jr. and wife, Karen; Valentine is also survived by sisters, Antonia Espinosa, Frances Padilla, Hope Espinosa, Lena Torres, and Delores Santos; nineteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The Castaneda family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Scott and White Hospice for their care and support given to Valentine Castaneda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the American Cancer Society.
